Pet Vomit on Fine Upholstery-Yuk!

March 25, 2011

The image to the left shows a fine upholstered sofa that got in the way of a family pet with an upset stomach. You can see the dark circle on the loose seat cushion in the foreground that was affected. We receive many requests for spot and stain removal from our Boston area clients due to pet accidents. Before any attempt is made at removing the spot, all detergents must be tested in an inconspicuous place-testing the detergents helps us to determine if the fabric can be safely cleaned. Many times using inappropriate solutions can damage a fabric, rug or carpeting more than the original spot or spill.

If you are going to try to remove spots and spills yourself start by using a neutral pH detergent (like HomePro Spotter-pictured at top-right of this page) and test it in a hidden area-usually near the zipper of the loose seat cushion. For tips on how to remove spots yourself tune-in to REGAL TV for spot and stain removal videos or click on our emergency spot and stain removal guide. You should feel free to message us at http://facebook.com/regalfabriccare or simply phone our Woburn, MA office at 781-995-0683 and we’ll be happy to provide you with the basics of spot and spill removal.

Above is another view of a matching sofa belonging to the same Boston area client. In the coming days we will try to remove the pet accident stain completely without changing the look of the fabric too greatly. Stay Tuned!
