Below are the Before and the After videos we recorded of a chair brought to us by one of our Boston area clients. Because of the recent ice dams in the New England area many people are experiencing leaks in their homes from melting snow and ice. This chair was the victim of a ceiling leak caused by a ice dam problem. From the first video you can see the what happens when water leaks through a ceiling cavity, carrying with it dirt, dust and other contaminants and falls onto a beautiful upholstered piece of furniture. The impurities leech into the fabric causing yellowing and browning and in a small area the extended period of wetness even caused some colors to bleed. Video 2 shows what can be accomplished with corrective cleaning: reversing most if not all of the browning while preserving the original beauty of the wool yarns. If you experience water leaks that affect your Oriental rugs, carpeting, upholstered furniture or custom drapery have all your furnishings dried as quickly as possible.
