Oriental Rug Cleaning-Cat Urine

August 17, 2011

We all love our pets, right?…….But accidents happen. The picture to the left demonstrates what happens when one of our Boston carpet and upholstery cleaning customer’s pet cat has an “accident” on their Oriental rug. The discoloration in the lower left corner shows what happened when panic set in and our customer “hosed off” the rug to help eliminate the smell. The red tinge is dye bleeding caused by the urine and also mostly likely from the “hosing off” and very slow dry-down (slow drying can cause otherwise stable dyes to bleed). The video below demonstrates how we remove the odor-causing urine along with other soils that may be on the rug. Removing the dyes that have bled may not be correctable in this case.

Please note: Most true Oriental rugs have very stable dyes and if cleaned quickly following an accidental spill will not bleed. If you try your own spot and spill removal please remember to dry the affected area(s) quickly. info@regalfabriccare.com or 781-995-0683 for assistance.
