How do you pre-test your spot and spill removal detergents on your upholstered furniture if the furniture does not have any hidden areas for the testing?

Let’s review the goal of spot removal:First, do no HARM to the colors or textures of your fabrics . If you attempt spot and spill removal without first pre-testing all detergents you plan on using you may cause permanent damage to the color (s) and maybe the textures of the fabric. Spend 5-10 minutes to be sure your valuable furniture will not be destroyed. SPECIAL NOTE: Do not believe everything you read on the packaging of any detergent-a proper pre-test is the only way to be sure what you plan on using is safe and effective.

The needlepoint chair in the upper left is a great example of a woven fabric using multiple yarns which are dyed with several different colors-and as you can see, the chair has no hidden area for pre-testing. The video below demonstrates how to properly proceed with your own spot and spill removal. Remember, these principles are also applicable to your Oriental rugs, wool carpeting and wall hangings.
