Restorative Cleaning VS Maintenance Cleaning

June 28, 2011

Both restorative carpet cleaning and maintenance carpet cleaning can be used to deliver the results our Boston area customers desire: Clean, healthy homes and offices. I believe maintenance carpet cleaning will help customers, both homeowners and office managers, enjoy their flooring to a greater degree. When I use the term Restorative Carpet Cleaning I’m referring to a very aggressive cleaning we use in order to try to bring back some of the carpet’s pile height and luster. Carpet that has been neglected requires extremely high pH detergents heated to high temperatures in order to loosen soils. Mechanical agitation, in the form of a rotating brush machine,  is usually required also. This aggressive cleaning, although necessary to loosen soils, can distort the carpet fibers and permanently change the look of your floor coverings.

A better option for residential and commercial carpet care is to have in place a maintenance program. A program of regular professional visits to your home and office in conjunction with your own spot and spill removal and vacuuming will extend the life and beauty of any carpet (even WOOL!). Gentler cleanings, done more frequently will usually cost a homeowner or building owner less over the life of a floor covering  and keeps the area healthier and more attractive to visitors and guests. Below are some photos of a recent restorative carpet cleaning in the Boston area:

You can see from these pictures that a restorative carpet cleaning can make a world of difference to the appearance of an office. However, our Boston area client would have saved money by having this particular facility cleaned more often.
