Don’t Wait Too Long…to dry clean

 The Risk of Water-Based Cleaning

The image below shows how dramatic the change is between the two sides: The left side has been treated with a detergent which is formulated to removed impacted soils on cotton fibers, while the right has been left alone. Because this fabric requires a dry-solvent cleaning to preserve the dyes in all the fibers the customer had to be made aware that with our aggressive wet-based cleaning dye bleeding was likely. Our customer decided to move forward with our recommendation: Wet clean the piece to remove spots, spills and ground in dirt and then consider an appropriate slip cover, if desired, to cover the dye bleeding.

When dye bleeding on fabric is likely always clean frequently to avoid the necessity, and risk of using water-based solutions!
