Can You Dig Yourself Out of This Hole?

February 18, 2011

The two videos represent the before and after of a Boston area Oriental rug that was in desperate need of professional services.  The first video will show the complete disintergration of a rug’s wool pile as well as the cotton foundation yarns.  Video number two shows what can be accomplished using professional repairs all at an affordable cost. The hole in the Oriental rug was caused by dry rot. For more on Oriental rugs:Dry Rot feel free to contact by phoning 781-995-0683.

VIDEO ONE-Trouble

VIDEO TWO-The Repair

Please note: there is a more expensive option-complete reweaving of the foundation yarns and then weaving the wool pile yarns into the cotton foundation. The client chose the less-expensive repair due to the age and overall condition of the piece.  To prevent dry rot of your beautiful rugs and carpeting do not place potted plants on them. If you decide to decorate using  plants make sure not to overfill the container when watering and to occasionally move the plant to an adjacent area, allowing the covered rug to release the trapped moisture from under the plant saucer.
