Antique Needlepoint Upholstery Cleaning Boston

April 2, 2014

Some of the requests we get in our Boston area cleaning studio involve family items, usually dating back several generations. The item highlighted below is an antique needlepoint piano seat cover that is approximately 80 years old and it has never been professionally cleaned. Great care must be taken to insure that the cleaning process will not harm the dyes or change the feel of this woven covering.

The video demonstrates the process necessary to test the fibers using the appropriate detergents before subjecting the entire piece to cleaning. It’s important to note that if water-based detergents cannot be used usually solvent-based cleaning agents can be substituted. Remember to always test any detergent prior to doing your own spot & spill removal. See more about caring for Antique Upholstered Furniture

I have a needle point pillow cover. It’s about 130 yrs old. In great condition but extremely dirty. I believe it’s silk on the back. It measures apx 15 1/2″ x 16″. Can you clean it? Apx cost?

I have an antique needlepoint throw pillow that is at least 150 years old. The back of it is either silk or satin, but not sure. It’s apx 16″×16″.
Apx how much would it cost to clean?

Hello. We have a needlepoint rug (round, approximately 5’10” diameter) that has never been cleaned and has been in storage. Could you come pick it up? The rug is in Westwood and my mother doesn’t drive so someone would have to pick up and deliver.
