Oriental Rug Rules to Live By!

For more detailed explanations of the guidelines presented below see past posts such as Oriental & Custom Area Rugs

RULE ONE:  Vacuum your rugs at least weekly, more frequently if they are in an active area of your home.  Regular vacuuming helps remove grit that can tear and scratch wool fibers leading to premature wear.

RULE TWO:  Rotate rugs a minimum of every 3-4 months.  Rotating rugs helps even the wear patterns from foot traffic associated with normal living.  Rotating rugs also exposes hidden areas to sun light helping to even out fading.  An added benefit: Rotating can disrupt the ideal living conditions necessary for moth growth.

RULE THREE:  Blot up spots and spills quickly.   Using a neutral detergent blot up food and beverage spills as quickly as possible.  Greasy foods that remain on rugs can attract more soils and eventually bind these soils deep into the rug’s wool.  Remember: Blot don’t rub/scour spills!

RULE FOUR:  Professionally clean your Oriental rugs every 12-24 months for complete removal of grit, sand and greasy soils.  For best results have your valuable Oriental rugs professionally cleaned off location.  Find out why.

Use these four RULES for RUGS as a guide to promote a clean and healthy environment for you and your family while preserving your investment in hand knotted Oriental Rugs.
