How To Spot Moth Damage on an Oriental Rug
Sometimes spotting the damage caused by moths and their larvae can be difficult. The rug pictured below is an example of extensive damage to all areas and both top and bottom sides of this wool rug. Moths and their wool-eating larvae were left for as much as 2 years on this Boston area customer’s rug. The owner lived alone and had never had the rug professionally cleaned or even vacuumed periodically. The pictures will show you how to spot moth damage on wool rugs but knowing how to prevent this problem is even more important.
The Video below shows a more detailed look at the damage insects can do to a wool rug or even wool wall to wall carpeting:
Tips To Keep Your Rugs Safe From Moths And Other Insects:
- Vacuum to top side of you rugs weekly
- Vacuum the bottom side at least every six months
- Clean up spots and spills quickly, especially pet accidents
